Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. We seek to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. To accomplish these goals, we invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller, along with his wife, Linda. Today, we have helped build over 400,000 decent, affordable houses and served more than 2 million people around the world.

In addition to building houses, Habitat rehabilitates and repairs more and more homes, and helps finance more incremental housing improvements. Habitat’s toolkit includes emergency shelter kits and transitional shelters, weatherization projects, water and sanitation upgrades, housing microfinance systems, and much more. Also, Habitat builds partnerships and joins coalitions to revive entire neighborhoods, fostering job-training opportunities, sponsoring financial and legal literacy classes, and inspiring teams of impassioned advocates who are determined to bring about systemic change.
